Standing Watch
2022 // BC, Canada
An Alpha male coastal wolf stands atop a rocky outcrop on the coast of BC, Canada
Coastal Wolves cover huge distances searching for bounty that the tides wash up twice daily. They swim between islands and stand on rocky outcrops to see and smell any marine animals that have been washed up with the tides. Regularly eating sea lions and otters as well as much larger carrions such as dolphins and whales, they are at the mercy of the oceans. I know this particular rocky outcrop very well as I have been waiting for a wolf to climb up (and for me to be in the right place) for many years. One day in 2022 all the stars aligned and it happened right in front of me. I dreamt about this image for years, so I am incredibly proud that the waiting and dreaming paid off.
