Polar Majesty
2023 // Churchill, Manitoba, Canada
We saw this very large male bear from around 2 km away. He was slowly making his way around the shoreline of Hudson Bay looking for scraps of food, wistfully waiting for the bay to freeze. We set up cameras and waited. Sure enough, he sauntered past us giving us a beautiful show of his majesty as he slipped by. A combination of climate change and El Niño has meant that Hudson Bay will freeze later than normal putting pressure on hungry bears to feed themselves and their offspring.
